RE: Fuel Economy

Been looking at 24 6.6 L8T gas myself. Most youtube videos say 15-18 empty on interstates, and 8-10 towing. Naturally depends on size / weight you are towing. Most say it tows much easier than 2020-2023, but gets same or slightly worse mileage towing. I agree with this. 8-10 with my 32ft travel trailer or 28ft enclosed depending on location. My diesel is about 20% better.

RE: I'm curious to know what you would do?

... There are a number of things that make me less excited about flipping this time. 1. I’m not getting the kind of discount I got in the past 2. The order coming in at the end of the year is disappointing 3. I really like my 2022 4. My wife likes the massage seats and the dealer opted to delete the massage seats in order to get the order pulled 5. I actually don’t care for many of the changes they’ve made to the truck. Your answer comes from number 4 above. Keep the current truck! After 4, I rank all others supporting 4.

RE: 6.6 Chevy gas engine

I have been driving a 6.6 with 10 sp since Feb. I have over 13k miles. I have towed a variety of trailers/wagons with it. I had a 2020 Reg Cab Dually with 6.6 and 6 sp. I towed a variety of trailers up to 15k lbs. I have also had a 2021 Denali Duramax and 2022 Silverado LTZ Duramax. I have never had any issues with either the 6.6 or Duramax. Towing, the 6.6 is way better than my 6.0 6sp and 3.42 rear axle in my Express van. The Duramax is better than the 6.6. If I was buying another, and with no plans to drive the Mountains, I would get a gas 6.6.

RE: How many EVs is GM actually selling?

So how do ya run and charge those EVs when it’s 0 or -30 outside? It’s great and all, but the only apartment places that seems to have convenience outlets for each car are also places where EVs don’t fare so well yet. Even assuming charging immediately after returning home, with a warmed up battery, how much of that 15-20A convenience outlet is actually providing additional charge and how much is charging what the battery is using to maintain temperature? Again, at this point, the technology is good for some (who also aren’t afraid to spend more money on cars) and not even close to a reality for many. Just keeping the flip side of the story real, here. ...Many people start by buying a single EV. Then winter comes and everybody in the house is fighting over who gets to drive the EV. The next year the gas vehicle gets replaced by another EV and it’s an EV household. Literally happened to us. EV’s are super convenient in winter, especially if you have to park outside. Always getting in a warm car. Never having to go to a cold gas pump and freezing your hands. (Charging at home). I could never go back to a gasser in winter and everybody we know driving an EV feels the same. ... More spin on fueling. Based on your statement, anyone with an EV would only charge in a heated garage, so their hands do not get cold while plugging in. In 3.5 years, I have charged on pay chargers twice. One time was because it was 20 degrees F and I was using heat and did not have enough range. My hands got cold plugging the car in to charge. At this time, EV adoption is not for everyone, and everywhere. That might be why I have an EV, gas, and diesel in my drive.

RE: Truck or Tahoe

I was surprised by the trucks 6100lb rating. The only thing I can figure is because of the 3.08 gears. This is why your tow rating is lower than expected. Some may say that longer wheelbase of truck helps with towing. I would say that you could get the travel trailer and tow it with either of your vehicles. I would choose the Tahoe as I suspect it has more equipment for comfort and ease of driving.

RE: How many EVs is GM actually selling?

GM's production and "sales" of EVs, including pickup trucks, went up by a large percentage in the 3rd quarter. But they count vehicles as sold when the dealer takes them. .......... True of all vehicles. All those thousands of EV, hybrid, and ICE vehicles setting on dealer lots count as sold. WRONG

GM's production and "sales" of EVs, including pickup trucks, went up by a large percentage in the 3rd quarter. But they count vehicles as sold when the dealer takes them. You are completely WRONG. The vehicle deliveries reported by all the OEMs represent the delivery of a vehicle to the ultimate customer. Financially, the OEMs take financial revenue when ownership transfers to the dealer. This is not what the auto companies report.

RE: Truck was totaled, looking at GM 6.6 Gasser

Mike I have had a 2024 gas Silverado 3500 Crew Cab SWB LT 2WD since start of February. (It was a GM Captured Test Fleet - forbidden from discussing). I am now over 10k miles. I have absolutely enjoyed this gas vehicle. I have towed my trailer (9600lbs) several times. Just under 8 mpg towing. Mine does have the large screen, trailer package. I have not had any issues. My 2022 diesel has sat unused (except for hauling hay in our constantly wet fields this summer because of 4WD). If I was buying another truck, I would definitely purchase a gas truck. (My towing is Michigan and trips to Iowa/Nebraska.) It has pulled everything I have fine. I had a 2020 with the 6.6 gas that I towed 16k on gooseneck with no issue. Let me know if you have any further questions.
